1. Responsibilities:

• Define the technical roadmap and architecture for fullstack products within the Shopify Apps ecosystem.
• Design, review, and improve end-to-end systems, including backend, frontend, database, cache, queue, and third-party integrations.
• Hands-on development for critical features, performance issues, production incidents, and complex technical problems.
• Build and maintain engineering standards, including coding conventions, code review practices, testing expectations, release processes, and post-mortem practices.
• Mentor developers in system thinking, debugging mindset, code quality, and ownership.
• Work closely with Product Owners and QA to translate product requirements into clear, feasible, and scalable technical solutions.
• Apply AI tools in coding, debugging, documentation, testing, and code review; guide the team to use AI effectively, safely, and with proper verification.

2. Requirements

Must-Have:

• At least 5 years of experience as a Fullstack Developer, with strong backend expertise.
• At least 1 year of experience in a Lead, Tech Lead, or Engineering Manager role, with experience leading a team of 3 or more developers.
• Experience in architecture design, technical design review, and taking ownership of the technical quality of a product or module.
• Strong system thinking, with a solid understanding of how to design and operate end-to-end systems from frontend, backend, database, cache, and queue to third-party integrations.
• Experience with performance optimization, background jobs, webhook processing, data synchronization, or systems with multiple integrations.
• Strong code review capability, with the ability to identify logic issues, security risks, performance bottlenecks, and design flaws.
• Experience in production operations, including logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, or post-mortem.
• Ability to mentor developers, provide clear feedback, and maintain engineering standards within the team.
• Product mindset, with the ability to understand business context and prioritize technical work based on product impact.
• Proficient in using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent tools in engineering workflows.

Core Tech Stack:

• Backend: Golang, preferably with Gin/Echo or equivalent frameworks; strong backend candidates with Node.js, Python, or Java who are willing to work with Golang are also welcome.
• Frontend: ReactJS, Redux Toolkit, or equivalent state management libraries.
• Database & Infrastructure: MySQL/PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ/Kafka, Docker, CI/CD, Linux server, Nginx.
• Domain/Product: Shopify APIs, Webhooks, GraphQL, E-commerce/SaaS, and third-party integrations.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience building or scaling a production system from MVP to a product with a significant number of active users or merchants.
• Experience handling major production incidents with clear post-mortem reports or technical write-ups.
• Experience in SaaS, product-led growth, e-commerce, or the Shopify ecosystem.
• Experience building AI workflows, internal tools, or engineering productivity tools for a team.
• Public contributions such as tech talks, technical blogs, open-source projects, or community sharing.
• Ability to communicate in English at work, read technical/API documentation, and communicate with stakeholders when needed.
